Experience

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with 10 years experience in the counselling profession working in hospital, public health, corrections, non-profit and private clinic settings doing both individual, online and group therapy. I work with teens, adults, families and couples.

I began my career counselling in a pioneering Trauma Therapy Program in Toronto (Women's College Hospital) where I provided individual and group therapy to adults significantly impacted by interpersonal and developmental trauma. This led to a deepened understanding of the impacts of adverse experiences and a dedication to trauma-informed practice. This became an essential foundation for my work for Vancouver Coastal Health (Child and Youth Mental Health) as a clinical counsellor for marginalized and complex youth and families struggling with mental health and substance issues, often facing systemic barriers to accessing care.

I have developed a strong DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) background and have recent experience leading DBT groups for youth in-person and virtually and most recently at Burnaby Youth Custody Centre, with the focus on teaching targeted skills for emotional and behavioural regulation and stabilization.

Most recently I have been working in private practice with a range of ages and diverse presenting concerns. Some of my clients have significant and chronic mental health challenges and require a more treatment-focused approach. Other clients I work with are less severely impacted by mental health and are seeking support through difficult life transitions, addressing past trauma, navigating relationships, finding purpose and personal healing.

If you are curious whether my experience would make me a fit for you, please do not hesitate to reach out for a free consultation. I would love to hear from you!

Education

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree (Psychology) from UBC and a Master’s Degree (Counselling Psychology) from University of Toronto and subscribe to the philosophy of “Always Learning” - meaning I involve myself in ongoing training, regular professional consultation and development.

Personal

I have been drawn to people’s stories for as long as I can remember and find beauty in the expression of human experience through books, movies, music and art of all kinds. Counselling has felt like more of a calling for me than a career and I am grateful to the clients I have worked with over the years who have taught me so much and allowed me to be part of their journey.

When I am not working, I am with my partner and two young kids - being a parent, spending time outside in nature, cooking a good meal in my kitchen with friends and family, getting into a new show or movie, and exploring local trails.
